October 2012 – Homeowner Update on Imprelis Lawn Herbicide Issue

The Board of Directors (“Board”) for the Malvern Hunt Homeowners Association (“HOA”) has been working with representatives from DuPont, Shearon (landscape contractor), Rockwell Associates (arborist), and our legal counsel to receive restitution for damage done to over 140 trees in our community due to the application of the Imprelis lawn herbicide in 2011. As many homeowners have noticed, Shearon has cut down the majority of impacted trees throughout the community during this past summer as they prepare for tree replacement and soil remediation.

The Board has received notice from DuPont and Shearon that the work will begin this October with the following four phases planned for tree replacement activity:

Phase 1: Trees at or near the front entrance at Swedesford Road
Phase 2: Trees along both the north and southbound lanes of Malvern Hunt Way
Phase 3: Trees in between homes
Phase 4: Trees along the far edges of the community

The Board anticipates at least Phases 1-2 will be completed during the fall while Phases 3-4 may extend into the early planting season in 2013. The Board would like to thank all homeowners for their patience as we worked through the legal and administrative processes necessary to achieve this desired outcome.
